AI is revolutionizing research by accelerating data analysis, enabling complex simulations, and uncovering patterns that were previously undetectable. It enhances productivity and fosters collaboration across disciplines and continents. However, it also raises challenges related to ethics, data bias, and the need for interpretability in AI-driven research.

This project explores how AI affects Global Research Partnerships and how we can harness such technologies responsibly and inclusively to advance global research. The aim is to develop an accessible online resource together with key partners from Switzerland and the Global South. It will provide insights on how to make effective and responsible use of AI in global research collaboration, highlighting both opportunities and challenges, and helping researchers navigate the ethical, social, and political dimensions of AI.

Project goal

A web-based resource that provides researchers, research institutions, and funding organizations with key information on how to use artificial intelligence profitably and responsibly in global research collaboration

Project activities

AI in Global Research Partnerships is the annual focus topic of the GRP-Alliance, which we dedicated four online workshops and our annual conference to in 2025. Read more about our discussions with speakers, panelists and participants here.

For the development of our online resource for the responsible use of AI, our partners ethix carried out numerous interviews with key stakeholders from Switzerland and the Global South. These insights will be available online here soon.
